So this is day three. In my defense against my chambray shirt addiction, I did not plan on wearing it today. I was going to wear a cropped denim jacket. Unfortunately, this tank top is quite flow-y and shapeless and really needed to be belted. Since I couldn't work the denim jacket with the belt, I defaulted back to my new best friend without really even thinking. But really, is a denim jacket THAT much different than this little number?

Notice my shoes? Yep, they're TOMS and I love them. I'm sure you all know about the TOMS One for One Project and if you don't you can read about it here. I've wanted a pair for forever, because I really believe in what they're doing and because they are super comfy. Well last night while Q and I were out, we picket up these little guys. I tried to convince Q that he needed a pair in his life, but I haven't gotten there yet. They are a little out of his comfort zone, I think.

This outfit popped into my head a few days ago. I know my long pant/anything with sleeves days are numbered, so I quickly checked the forecast to see if I would be able to squeeze this in before the temps skyrocketed. I could, obviously.

I felt very chic in this. Don't you just love those days when you put something on and you feel great in it? In the book of hits and misses, I call this a hit.

I'm wearing this tank top backwards and I think I like it better that way. I'm not one to show off my chest usually, well, ever. I do, however, like my back so I always tend to gravitate towards items that have interesting cut outs. I really like how this one dips low in the back, well, I guess it is really the front but whatever.

The sun game out just for me and my evening photo shoot. Wasn't that sweet of mother nature? I thought so.

Only two pictures today. I lost my wallet this morning and was feeling kind of down when I took these pictures. In the meantime, somebody found it and called me. It is actually very encouraging. The woman who found it spent all day trying to find a number for me, finally around 5pm she was able to find one with the name off of my student ID. When I met her to pick it up, we met at the hospital. Her daughter had been sick all day, yet she still took the time to make sure I got my wallet back. I am so thankful for people like this. We should all strive to be so nice.

PS: My tights are a beautiful pastel pink, or at least they were in the package. When I put them on they stretched into a whitish color. I guess I can't complain because I snagged them for, like, 90% off ($2) at Ross!

I am happy that it is getting warmer, I really am. I just wish that it would hover at the beautiful 70-75 degrees that it is right now. I don't want mother nature to bump it up 30+ degrees. Let me explain ...

I don't feel as if my outfit is complete without layers. I can't just throw on a dress and feel ready to go. I always want to add tights, a scarf, a cardi, something, anything to the ensemble. In the wintertime, I feel like my wardrobe doubles because I get to bring out jackets, tights, sweaters, and so on. In the summer, I feel like my clothes get stale quickly. I am not as creative because I don't have as many add-ons, if you will.

I live in Texas (obviously), it is very hot in Texas during the summer (obviously), this makes me want to wear a little as legally possibly (maybe not so obvious, but still). Come May-ish, I want to throw on a dress and sandals because I don't want anything more than that touching my body because, well, it is just too dang hot.

I am going to make it a priority to try to keep the heat from putting me in a rut this summer. But, until then, I'm going to wear the heck out of my tights because I will miss this awesome-outfit-transformation power within the next few weeks.

I've been looking at this post through two episodes of Wonder Pets and I don't really know what to say about it. I will explain the necklaces because I'm in love with them.

The tusk necklace is very important to me. My best friend gave it to me after several unsuccessful attemps at me stealing it. One summer my luggage got lost for 4 (yes, FOUR) weeks while I was away one vacation for six weeks. My bff loved me enough to send me two boxes full of her own clothes, shoes, and assesories. In these things was this necklace. When I was gathering up the things to send them back to her, she told me to keep the necklace. I wore it for, like, a year straight. I've had to repair it multiple times because BG likes to pull on it. But I love it. Every time I look at it, I think of her.

The key necklace was a DIY that I did today. Ok, it didn't take much DIYing because I basically found this old key, took the pendant off of a long chain and replaced it with the key.

For the last week my mum's best friend has been in town. We haven't really don't much of anything other than hanging out, but we have fun just doing that. For her last day here we wanted to do something special, so we settled on the butterfly exhibition at the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens. My mum and I have been wanting to take BG forever and since it was such a beautiful day, it was perfect for butterflies and a picnic. I'll let the pictures do the talking because there are lots of pretty ones.

This is a very picture heave post. You have been warned. =)

(Inside the Butterfly Exhibition. It was so cool to see them flying around everywhere.)
(BG was so adorable when we were picnicking. She kept hiding behind the tree.)

As I said before, I'm doing my best to stop looking for the right occasion to wear something. I've had these tights for a few weeks now and just have been putting off wearing them because I didn't feel like I had anything special to get dressed up for. Instead of feeling that way, I dressed up today just because I felt like it. I didn't do anything other than watch a movie and go to the laundromat, but that's okay.

Speaking of the laundromat. I felt a smidge overdressed when I walked in. This is the conversation that ensued via text message with Q and me.

Me: I'm wearing lace tights at the laundromat and people are looking at me like I'm an idiot.
Q: Maybe they are just awe struck by your chic fashion sense.
Me: No, I don't think that is it.

I did, in fact, feel slightly silly. But I love my lace tights and I don't care. So ha, take that silly laundromat people!

I love the print on this dress. How come when you see a print like this sold anywhere it is always called "Ditsy Floral Sundress" or "Ditsy Floral Tiered Skirt" or "Ditsy Floral Button-Up"? What is so ditsy about it?

Anyway, it might not be a dress because it is completely sheer. Whatever is it, I love the print. I've been making a considerable effort not to buy black things for spring/summer. I want to go more towards the pastel route, but at $4 I couldn't pass this print up. I think it will look super cute with skinnies and wedges or tucked into a chambray skirt.

Somebody please tell me why this wonderful chambray shirt has been sitting in my closet for weeks without being worn? I picked it up at Goodwill for, like, 90 cents or something crazy like that. I brought it home, promptly stuck it on a hanger and then proceeded to wait for the "right" time to wear it. Does anybody else do this? Dream up awesome outfits and then fail to wear them because you're waiting for a specific right time? I am determined to stop this craziness because I do it all the time.

What is UP with the wind in north Texas? I almost got knocked over walking into my observation school today. No, seriously, I almost fell on my butt.

I just threw my hair up into a low pony for observation today but I hate taking pictures with a pony tail it because I always end up looking bald. So, old man hat it is. Today was second day hair and it just didn't want to do anything.

I've had this dress for two years and I've never worn it. I'm not sure if it is the length or what. I'm 90% sure that I am going to hem it to just above my knees - still teaching appropriate but much more flattering on my short frame.

Get it? Get it? Switzerland, neutral. Black, brown, grey, beige - all neutrals and also all the colors I'm wearing. Ha yeahhhhh.

I felt like I needed a little oomph, which is where the red lips came in. The thumbs up came in because today was my last day of classes before Spring Break.

It is beautiful today. I'm talking 70 degree, people. So, actually, I have no use for this cardi or these tights - but the cardi kept me warm in the air conditioning and I thought the tights looked cool with the belt, so they stay for the pictures.

My first two classes were canceled today and I was riiiight by two thrift stores, so I figured why not stop in. I found great chambray skirt (that will need hemmed) but for 99 cents, I could not leave it behind. I am still on the hunt for the perfect floral skirt and/or dress. I think I might just be too picky. Its just that I have this picture in my mind and I can't seem to bring it to fruition. It is beyond frustrating.

I'm a bit torn between taking a nice little bike ride and taking a nice little nap. Maybe I have time for both for I have to dash to the boy's house for another family birthday dinner (I'm tellin' ya, this boy has a big family)? Ah decisions, decisions.
