I looked forever for a fedora that I loved and I found this little guy at Goodwill for $1. I think it was a good buy. It kinda makes me feel like an old man.

I have been dying over Spring clothes. Lots of things are appealing to me this season that I never thought would. Probably the most shocking is my huge desire for light, airy colors. I am a self-proclaimed black clothing junkie yet I am drawn towards the beautiful muted colors this year.

I'm not COMPLETELY ready to trade in my cozy sweaters and tights yet but I'm getting there. I would still like a few good weeks of winter and then I think I'll be all set.

I am dying for new photo shoot locations. Last night I decided to give the parking garage at school a go, new scenery and light maybe? So I got up early and headed out there before it got super full. I have to say that I am completely unimpressed by our parking garage - no cool labeling, numbers, letters, nada. First new location - fail. Never fear because I have a few others up my sleeve for the near future.

I am in love with the last photo. I realize this sounds rather narcissistic, but I would love it even if it weren't of me. It just seems so dreamy and whimsical. I want the days to get a teensy bit longer so that I can start playing with the available lighting in my photos more. But, for now, I'm thrilled with the last shot.

I really wanted to actually get dressed this morning but, alas, my poor BG has caught whatever I had so I got little sleep last night. Needless to day, we are both at home today resting up. My day will consist of many (many, many, many) episodes of Wonder Pets, Little Bear and Dora the Explorer - very glamorous stuff, I tell ya!

I'm glad I saved the wedding attire for today, even though I was super ready to post it yesterday. Everyone told me this dress was too Springy for a February wedding but too bad because it has been hanging in my closet for six months and it needed to be worn! As you know, I adore yellow and grey, so that was the starting point. I have been seeing yellow and black everywhere for Spring and decided to add a bit of that in there too. I never would have done red lips and nails too, but I was feeling adventurous and glam.

You know those outfits that you just feel so pretty in? This was definitely one of those. Q's niece came over right before we left and said, "I love your shoes. And you nails. And you lips. Oh, oh, and your dress and tights." Compliments from a child are always the best because you know they are completely heartfelt.

I didn't post for Scrapbook Sunday yesterday, nor did I actually get dressed today. I have been sick since Saturday night and have been doing little other than sleeping.

These pictures were taken Saturday. As you can tell, I was feeling just fine. In fact, I was feeling just fine up until about 10:00 Saturday night when Q had to take me home from the wedding we were attending. I proceeded to get yucky sick for about two hours until I said enough was enough and we went to the hospital so I could get some fluids in my body. Now hospital sounds so dramatic, but really I wasn't dying or anything. I just couldn't keep anything down so I needed a bit of medical attention. I slept (literally) all day Sunday and most of today. It helped. A lot.

I am still undecided on whether or not I'll be getting out tomorrow, so I'm going to save the wedding attire pictures - just in case. I love when other bloggers post almost daily, so I truly hate taking week days off. Hopefully all will be back to our regular scheduled programming very soon.

I feel like I'm a Texan in these boots. They are perfect and exactly what I wanted - short, tan, with some hardware. I had a hard time pairing them with something today. Nothing felt right. I think because when I pictured my cowboy boots, I pictured wearing them with a sundress or great cutoffs. This outfit has a Little House feel to it also. I'm all about the prairie wear lately, apparently.

I had this plaid shirt on with a black bubble skirt this morning. I really thought that the roughness of the shirt next to the volume of the skirt would look very cute. It didn't. I like how the blues in the shirt look with the blue jeans though.

I only started wearing navy in the last year or so. I love it now, I don't know why I didn't wear it before. Maybe I just had a hard time pairing it, I'm not sure.

The texture and color of this flouncy shirt made me feel like a ballerina today. I just wanted to go around doing pirouettes all day long. Plus, I am just loving these colors today. I'm completely drawn to pastels and light, feminine shades. That is completely out of the norm for me, didn't I just say how much I loved black!?

I wore this to chassé through Walmart and Home Depot to look for brown spray paint and dowel rods. The bathroom redecorating has begun. Which reminds me - I have to go get my freshly painted frames off of my front lawn.

Who read The Little House on the Prairie books? I did (and I saw all of the movies, to boot!). I feel like Laura Ingalls in this dress. It gives me visions of running through tall grass without a smidge of civilization in sight. No? Ok, well if you're seen the show or movies, you know that is how they all begin.

On the other hand, I don't think Miss Ingalls wore mustard colored Hue tights that she got for $3.75 at Dillard's =)

The snow is gone. It is sad because now we get to look at dead brown grass for another few months. But, don't let the lack of snow fool you, my fingers were pretty much frozen when I was done taking these.

I had no idea what I wanted to wear today. Actually, come to think of it, I had no idea what I even wanted to DO today. So, BG and I played until 10:30 and then I decided we should probably get out of the house. This is what I came up with for a trip to the mall. We mostly just walked around and window shopped. I was completely blown away by Pottery Barn's Spring layout. I need almost everything in there. I will be on the hunt for the cheaper versions.

It was kind of fun to walk around the mall in these tights. I felt like women with big chests must feel when people don't look them in the eyes (or does that just happen in movies?). Anyway, I saw all of the eyes of those who glanced my way look at my tights before they looked at my face.

I have a process when it comes to following bloggers. I like go back and read all of their archives before I hit that follow button. I do this for two reasons: 1.) It helps me see if I like their style. While I can appreciate all style, we are all drawn to different things. 2.) I feel like it helps me get to "know" them a little better and I think it is much more fun to follow a blogger that you feel like you know.

One of the first bloggers I ever started following was Kyla from Blue Collar Catwalk. Now, if you've followed my blog for any amount of time, you know that I've referred to her before. From reading all of her archives, I know that she loves wooden jewelry in the summer and a special place in her heart for elephants. So, naturally, when I saw this necklace at Goodwill I thought of her instantly. Does anybody else do this? Think of the bloggers that they follow when they see something in stores? Or am I just weird?

We have snow! I've lived in Texas for nearly ten years and I don't think I've ever seen this much snow here. Needless to say, everybody is freaking out and it is taking twice as long to get anywhere but I don't care because it is SNOWING! It makes me so happy. I would have been even happier if my classes had been cancelled, but they weren't. Its okay thought because (you guessed it) it is SNOWING!

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people tell me that I wouldn't like the snow/cold if I had to deal with it all winter. I always promptly reply with, "I lived in Pennsylvania for half my life, I've dealt with snow all winter for many winters." Then they always reply, "Ohh you were too young to remember." I was not too young to remember! I know I love the cold and the snow, why can't people just let me love it - goodness! I had to throw this in there because every single time it gets cold or snows here, I have this exact conversation with at least one person.

I wish BG were here to make a snowman with me but since she isn't, I'm off to make some soup and read Wuthering Heights (again).

Have you guys ever had a Grapple? I saw them at the grocery store the other day and I think I wanna give that hybrid a shot.

I'm on a roll with the colors this week! Instead of complimentary colors, I decided to go with the analogous scheme today. I was first turned on to this red and purple combo when I reader gave me a suggest on how to wear a certain bright purple skirt. I love it now!

This skirt was perfect for it because it has both colors, plus a little blue in it. The only issue was that it kept getting caught on my leggings and riding up - oops. I love it, despite all that.

(Turtleneck: F21; Shirt: F21; Skirt: Target; Leggings: Walmart; Belt: F21; Boots: Kohl's)

I went into Target today to get some groceries and was instantly drawn to their adorable rompers that I've see Christina from Second Skin sporting. I need one. NEED! I have promised myself that if I score an A on my math test tomorrow, that I will get myself one (I just can't decide on which one! Help, guys!). So its off to studying for me.

The skies were blue today. In response to the color that was showing outside, I decided to infuse my outfit with a bit of color. I've been experimenting with mixing colors within my closet. I've even gone as far as to hang three different color wheel photos on the inside of my closet doors - I'm getting serious haha.

I love this leopard coat. It is such a classic cut and it is the perfect leopard pattern because it IS possible to make a bad leopard pattern. It always spices up any outfit. Plus, it was only $30. For a winter coat, I'd say that is a steal.

So this is blue and orange mixed. I wasn't too sure about it but I like it now. I think for each color combination I'm going to need time to see it together, once I have it in my mind that it is an outfit - it automatically matches in my head.

This orange shirt was not born orange. It is actually this unloved shirt. I decided I was sick of pairing colors with neutrals so I dyed nearly all of my white shirts and sweaters bright colors. I'm really liking how it turned out.

These fun little bangles found their way to me through the $1 jewelry store. On Christmas Eve BG gave up her binkie. She put all of them into a little mailbox for Santa to give to the baby elves. In return, Santa left her big girl presents. Every time we find another binkie laying around, she gets to put it in her mailbox and the next day Santa brings her a little present. Last night we found two (gasp!) binkies in a drawer, so today "Santa" went to the $1 jewelry store to get her big girl presents (dress up rings, bracelets, and necklaces). Well, Santa also found some gifts for Mama, hence the new bangles. I know that is a lot of background info just to tell how I got new bangles BUT I wanted to share because I know some of you all have children and the Santa thing work GREAT for giving up binkies, I totally recommend it.

And PS: If you haven't hear "For Blue Skies" by Strays Don't Sleep, I totally recommend downloading it. It was the inspiration for my title - um, obviously.

With the exception of one or two days, it has been cloudy and/or rainy for the past two weeks. It makes me happy and productive, which is probably not the norm as far as feelings for rain go in the style blogging world. I don't know why I love rain so much. Maybe it is because Texas doesn't get very much rain, so I savor it when we do. Either way, I'm one happy camper.

I did lots today. None of those things required me to look nice, or even get dressed at all for that matter. I didn't leave the house, which ended up being a great thing because I had lots to get done at home. Alas, even though I didn't leave the house - I did get dressed and no, not just to take these pictures! =)

I love this hat! My wonderful bf got it for me. I've been looking at it forever and he got it over the weekend. Today was the perfect day for a hat (had I actually gone anywhere). This scarf is the softest, coziest scarf I own. I got three colors (green, teal, black) of them from Walmart (for $5!) last Black Friday. Sadly, my black one has gone missing. Oh, and this ring? It cost a dollar. I actually got a bunch of other cute things, so be looking for them!

I don't really believe that there should be colors restrictions based on gender; likewise, I don't believe that wearing a certain color makes you a "real" woman/man. But this title is funny for two reasons:
1.) This is my step-dad's shirt. My mum and I bought it for him years ago. I'm pretty sure he's only worn it twice.
2.) Every time Q and I go shopping, I try to talk him into something purple. He never goes for it. I think he would look good in purple. He says he just isn't a purple kinda guy. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep trying or respect his feelings on the color purple yet ;).

I normally don't take my pictures in direct sunlight because it makes crazy shadows and washes the photos out. Well, I still have the crazy shadows but the sun brings out the beautiful color of this shirt. I love it, I'm pretty sure it is going to stay in my closet. It is just so soft and comfy.

Today BG and I are spending the day with Q and his family. His sister has a huge yard that the kids can play in so it is always fun to go out there. Also, I get to see the baby goats again!

North Texas saw the sun today! Unfortunately, the sun was not helpful in taking my pictures. I had to hide behind my house in order to escape it. I toyed with one of the photos I took out in the sun (the bottom one) and I kinda like how it came out in an artsy sorta way.

Tonight I'm going out to eat for Q's birthday. A whole bunch of us are going to Gloria's in Frisco for great Mexican food and drinks. If you are ever in Frisco, Texas you HAVE to check it out. It is so yummy.

I am so upset that you can really see my shoes in these photos. Try and zoom in because they are super cute. I built this entire outfit around them. They are one of the pairs that I thrifted yesterday from Salvation Army.

wa-TERmelon AND RAIN

I am trying to teach BG that water is not "wa-wa" so now instead of saying it the normal way or even "wa-wa," she says "wa-TER." So, naturally every time I hear the word water, I think of how she says it. This morning when I got dressed I looked in the mirror and told myself that I looked like a wa-TERmelon. It made me giggle a little.

Anyway. I haven't seen the sun in a week. Which is okay because I'm getting some use outta my wellies, plus I like the rain - its cozy.

I've worn this shirt in 1/3 of all my outfit posts. It is just so soft and thin and perfect for layering. I don't think I've even worn it just on its own though.

I was feeling a little under the weather this morning. Normally just getting dressed makes me feel better, but today it just wasn't working. I dragged myself to class half heartedly, sat there for 4ish hours, then drove home and magically I felt better. Because I was feeling better I decided to go for a ride on my bike for the first time! It was a little chilly and my ears did not like the wind, but other than that it was awesome. I love it! There will be pictures coming very soon.

Thank goodness for considerably better photos. I spent almost all weekend running around and having a good time, so I wanted to do nothing more than relax with BG today. Normally when I say that, it never happens but today its actually did. It was so nice. I sat and caught up on old magazines I've been meaning to go through while BG watched Little Bear. We had a midday siesta and then got up and did it all over again. It was wonderful.

Every since my best friend got her Minnetonka moccasins I've been lusting over them. I had walking around the house with no shoes on but I can never find slippers that I like. This means that I normally default to Uggs in order to keep my tooties warm. This would be okay if Uggs weren't so darn cumbersome. My best friend is the best and knew that I've been wanting them so she got them for me as a gift while she was here. My new Minnetonkas are awesome for the house and for outside. To make it even better, they're grey - how great is that?! Now I'm determined to find a pair small enough for BG.
