I had all the best intentions of posting this last night but when it came down to it, I was just too tired.

The first two photos are from my Starbucks grande iced black tea (with only two pumps of sugar) from this afternoon. I loved the way the light hit the tea and made it look kinda like it was glowing.

The last three are all pretty random, and all from Pennsylvania - cherry tomatoes that baby girl picked from the garden, a moonlit river after a Friday night cookout, and baby girl enjoying her very first beach visit. The beach visit was completely random. My flight was cancelled and they couldn't get us on another one that night, so we went and walked along a beach on Lake Erie before heading home (just to turn around and come back the next day). I've flown into Erie for the better part of 10 years, but I had never been to the lake until that day.

Random ramblings of an insane person

Hi there! This is Christina from Second Skin. Desiree asked me to guest post for her while she was away this week. This is my very first time so I apologize if I seem a little nervous. I just want to do her right. I have known Desiree ever since she started her blog. I think she may have actually contacted me just before she started and we exchanged several emails about it. This is sort of coming full circle now since this kind of feels like my very first blog post. To give you an example, I have just written and erased 3 paragraphs, one at a time. To be completely honest, my first blog post was literally erased to like one sentence eventually. It has taken a lot for me to open up on my blog, and now it feels like I am starting out fresh again. Really weird. I guess I am just doing what I always do in my posts, type what I am thinking at that exact moment, but I still can't help but feel that I will be judged by this post. The way that a first post does feel when you are writing it. Her formatting tools are all different from mine and nothing feels familiar, I am worried the formatting will look weird or that blogger will mysteriously fail to save my post. Oh well. That's how I am sometimes. Especially when things mean a lot to me. I don't want to let D. down. She is such a great mom, a stylish and sweet blogger, and a really genuine person. I am sure you all know about this since it is her blog you are reading anyway. I feel like I need to erase and start over again. Should I? Oh man this is so much harder than I thought it would be! Well, there you have it! A bunch of random rambling and nonsense from an insane person. I will probably never be asked to do this again! I am sure this is not what she was expecting. But, I mean, this is what I do sort of. Just ramble. It can't be too much of a surprise right? Desiree, I am sorry you had to be the first, since this was bound to happen my first time, but I hope that you knew from your very first email exchange with me, that I can be a bit over honest. I do hope you are enjoying your day away and, I guess know that you readers will be SUPER happy to have you back!!

I just loved the lighting in these photos. My computer sits right beside these curtains and I loved the way the evening sun was making them so bright.

So, if last Friday's outfit was the minimalist's take on this dress, then this Friday's is the ... maximum's (?) take of this dress? Haha.

I didn't know if this skirt looked too much like an apron with the hem of the dress sticking out from under it, but I decided to roll with it anyway. I kinda like the idea of the hem peaking out for some reason. I think I just like this dress, period. No matter when I pair it with (or don't pair it with), I love it. I'm pretty sure it is all the pretty colors and the ruffled neckline.

I have to give credit where credit is due and this time it goes out to Erin from Calivintage. I always see her rocking blouses underneath strapless dresses and such (like this) and I think it is genius. I would have never thought of that if I hadn't seen her do it first. That right there, my friends, is why I love the style blogging world - so much freaking inspiration!

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who entered my very first giveaway (and of course, a big thank you to Shabby Apple for sponsoring said giveaway).
The winner is ...
Alya from kookulai! Congrats, Alya.
Thank again to everyone who entered. You guys are great.

I feel very ... pink? girly? ruffle-y? in this outfit. Up until about a year ago, I don't think I really owned any pink. Actually, up until about a year ago, I didn't really own any kind of color. It was all black, white and grey. Which made getting dressed very simple but a little boring. Now, I prefer a little color.

My nana is the only person I know who would plant something in an old boot. I love it though, I kind of want to plant something like this at my house.

I love that this rice was purchased in PA but it says, "Go Texan" on it.

BG loved these little clover flowers that were all over my family lawn. I say 'were' because she spend every evening picking them, so it is a little sparse now. I just love how her little feet are positioned in this photo (I stand like that too).

Sometimes I think I over think things. I've expressed my love for layers lots of times (here, here, and here). So when it comes to dressing to the minimum, I am at a loss. I can think of a thousand (okay maybe just, like, ten) ways to style this dress but I decided to just go with something straight forward for once. No fuss - just a dress and some shoes and I like it. That being said, this is another dress that I can't wait to pair with fun tights when cooler weather gets here.

I love this dress so much that I'm finding it hard to wear anything else in my closet. It is just so cool and breezy, plus it has pockets (which is why I have disappearing hands here) and there is nothing better than pockets.

But, now that I think of it, the dress could be more of a blue Minnie Mouse dress than a blue Pretty Woman dress. Take your pick, I think I'm okay with either one.

I was worried that this skirt was going to look dowdy, but I LOVE it with this top. I felt really great wearing this. I know I've said it before, but don't you love days like that? When you just feel good. It was one of those things that just came together. I love it when that happens.

I just love the colors in this dress. I fell like it creates so many different options. That is one thing I've realized since I've started blogging - just because something had a colorful print, does not mean that it can't be versatile. I can't wait to pair this dress with colorful tights when it cools off. Yes, it is July and I am thinking about tights weather (which won't be until October-Novemberish for me!).

I've been dying to wear this skirt again since my birthday, but I wanted to dress it down a little. I really like how the worn in tee comes together with the frilly-ness of the skirt.

I've been in a yucky clothing slump lately. Yesterday I pouted like a little girl and said, "I don't have any good clothes." No, seriously I did. It wasn't pretty. I do have clothes, lots of them. I'm just lacking some serious inspiration. But, I am happy with how this came out, so maybe I'm back on track. Maybe?

Make sure you get your entry in by midnight on Friday, July 16th and I will post/contact the winner on Saturday, July 17th.

And a huge thanks to Shabby Apple for sponsoring this giveaway.

One thing I really (really, really, really) look forward to doing when I go to PA is being out on the water - boating, swimming, jet skiing, whatever. Maybe it is because I don't have access to a boat in Texas, or maybe it is all of the fun childhood memories I have from the river outside my grandparents house but whatever it is I love it. It is so nice to spend a few weeks up there relaxing by the water.

I swear, every time I put this dress on it gets a little shorter. I really don't think I'm growing, so that leaves me with the idea that little elves must be breaking into my closet in the middle of the night and hemming it little by little to drive me crazy.

Another thing, I wanted cowboy (er, cowgirl?) boots for as long as I can remember. I finally got a pair back in February and now I have no idea how to wear them. Nothing ever seem to fit. Please help!

I sat on my bed until almost noon because I was so indecisive about everything. I didn't know what I wanted to wear, or what I wanted to do, or if I even DID want to do anything. Eventually I decided I better do something before the day was gone.

I tried on a ton of things and I settled on this. I also decided that if I could wear just this dress, with nothing under it, it would be quite breezy. But, it is very sheer and therefore probably inappropriate to wear in public. My mum kindly informed me that it is so sheer because it is actually a bathing suit cover-up. So that explains it.

Instead of going to fireworks on the 4th of July, we normally attend the Allen USA Celebration in Allen, Texas on the last Saturday in June. They shuttle you back and forth from the festival, which is really nice when you have a two year old in tow. Plus, they put on a great fireworks show.

I, like many others, enjoy dressing in themes. And 4th of July = red, white, and blue (obviously). I was originally planning on wearing the "Pretty Woman" dress but my mum decided to wear blue, so I changed my plans. Last minute I picked this fun belt up at F21 on sale for, like, $4 and paired it with a white dress. I felt very American.

Another one of the things I love about Pennsylvania is my grandparents' garden. They plants tons of yummy veggies that we can eat all summer. It is cute to watch them talk about it and take care of it together every evening. All of these images were taken from my grandparents garden with the exception of the strawberries and peas, those were taken at a little roadside stand.
