Dress: F21 // Sweater: Gap // Boots: Vintage Etienne Aigner

This is the outfit I wanted to wear when I put this on last week. It was entirely to warm to wear this - even at 8:30 this morning. After class I traded in the boots for oxfords and the thick sweater for a light cardi. But, apparently, I will be needing those boots and that sweater for the next couple days. Or at least that is what the weather people are telling me. We shall see.

I try not to make it a habit of letting baby girl fall asleep in my bed but, the other night, she was being so sweet and quiet that I couldn't bring myself to kick her out. Times like these, when she is sleeping so peacefully, almost make up for the three year old tantrums.
I still have Christmas lights up in my bedroom. I can't make myself take them down. They're too pretty and sparkly - they make me happy.

Dress (as skirt): Thrifted Vintage, hemmed // Cardi: Nordstrom // Tights: Anthro, gift // Shoes: Gap // Belt: F21

While I was getting my list together for the next 30 for 30 challenge, I came across this dress. I loved it all summer. I still love it. Yet, I always feel a little baffled by it because I feel like I've maxed out the ways to remix it. I hadn't given it its shot at a more winterized (ok, ok it was 60*F when I snapped these - not exactly winterized, I know) outfit, so I decide to give it a go. I feel like I stayed pretty safe with the black accessories but I like how the tights reflect the polka dot pattern in the dress.

Cardi: Gap // Plaid Shirt: Walmart // Leggings: Kohl's // Boots: Enzo Angiolini

I think I like this outfit better in theory. I love how the yellow cardi looks up against the plaid but I don't really love it all buttoned up. I like the leggings and boots but I think that I would have liked my brown boots better. I like the leggings because they were super comfy but I think skinnies might have looked better. Maybe I'll give this one another shot with a few changes this weekend because I think it deserves a second chance.

Blazer: Thrifted // Cardi: Target // Dress: Thrifted Vintage, hemmed // Boots: ELLE via Kohl's // Tights: Hue // Sunnies: Tom Ford

There is a tiny hole in the neckline of this dress that I opted out of fixing. I didn't think it would bother me or be all that noticeable. I'm sure it isn't noticeable but it does bother me so, I threw this little guy to distract from it. Baby girl loves opening and closing the wings on the owl and it wasn't until after she was playing with it that I realized the colors of the hands on the clock correspond perfectly with the colors in the dress. I love little details like that.

Speaking of love ... I kinda love this dress. How adorable would it be with yellow heels and a denim jacket for Spring? Or, red tights for a monochromatic look (something I haven't quite braved before)? Or even mustard tights with my mustard cardi (too much mustard?). I am interested to get other opinions about it because, with dresses like these, I tend to only pull the colors out of the dress and call it a day. How would you wear this dress?

Dress: F21 // Shirt: Walmart // Cardi: Target // Shoes: YellowBox // Necklace: "borrowed" from my mum

I definitely thought I had posted this yesterday but, alas, I did not.

This is a direct result of just sorta throwing things on until I find a combination that I like. I think I would have liked the result a little more with a chunkier knit sweater but it was definitely too warm for a heavy sweater. On the other hand, I really love how the orange tones in my necklace and shoes play off of one another. The necklace was a last minute add on in a effort to bring a little color into the outfit. It wasn't until I downloaded the photos that I realized was kinda in-tone with these platforms. Isn't it funny how you notice more thing in a photo than you do in the mirror?

Coat, Jeans: F21 / Shirt: Burlington Coat Factory / Hat: Target / Shoes: JCPenny / Bag: Foley&Corinna

Why does 25 degrees feel so much colder in Texas than it does in Pennsylvania? Completely seriously, I want to know. I spent three weeks in below freezing temps and, for some reason, once 25 degree morning in Texas chills me to the bone.

I woke up this morning knowing that it was jeans days. I know that sometimes I think too much about what I want to wear so I decided to just so simple and neutral. Leopard is neutral, right?

Sweater: Gap // Skirt: Thrifted Vintage, hemmed // Tights: Hue // Boots: ELLE via Kohl's
Look at that hair! It was so super windy.

I was a bit apprehensive about this skirt. Not when I bought it because it was $1.50 and I thought that pattern was super cute. So much so that I got a second one that is very similar. That was this summer ... this winter when I finally got around to having them hemmed, I was worried that the shorter hem with the pleats and the paisley was just too much. Now, I disagree with my previous notions about this skirt. My apologies, dear skirt.

After coming in from snapping these photos, I gave baby girl a big red lipstick kiss. We went right back out to take a photo of her cuteness. Later, when she was washing her hands in the bathroom, she looked in the mirror and said, "HEY! I have Mama's lips on my cheek!" like she forgot all about it, haha. Kids are so silly sometimes. Case in point right here.

Shirt: Nordstrom // Sweater, Tights: Gap // Shorts: Old Navy // Shoes: Steve Madden // Necklace: Kohl's

This is the third time I've written this post. Blogger is not playing nice with me this evening. What IS playing nice are all these colors in this necklace - navy, teal and purple living harmoniously. My mum gave me it for Christmas and I instantly created, like, ten different outfit around it in my head. This one was at the top of my imaginary list. Only in my imagination I was five inches taller, wearing fabulous heels and snapping my photos while doing something far more glamourous than grocery shopping. Those sneaky imaginations.

Imaginations aside, I love how this outfit came together. At first, I had on navy tights because I was going for a more streamlined look but, at the last minute, I decided to change them to these teal ones. I am so happy I did because I'm pretty sure this outfit would have been a bit boring without the colorful tights.

Cardi: Thrifted NY&Co // Shirt: Target // Jeans: Gap // Shoes: Steve Madden // Necklace: Walmart // Bag: Foley&Corinna

Wow. I hate to leave you all with another list but I just can't seem to kick the headache that I have. That, paired with a bit of back to school stress and I'm worthless. I just can't seem to form a coherent paragraph that flows, so a list it is.
  • I absolutely adore ankle length jeans/pants as of late.
  • These shoes have been around the block a few times. I got them in 2006 and they're still holding up.
  • I stopped by a new thrift store while I was in PA and picked up a few colorful cardigans for the low, low price of $2 each. I always hesitate to invest in good quality, colorful items because I feel like they won't be as versatile as neutrals (silly notion, I know) so I normally head to second hand stores when I want shots of color. Plus, you can never have too many cardis. Can you?
  • I've said it before but this necklace always seems to be the perfect finishing touch. I feel like it matches pretty much everything I own. Which, realistically, I know is probably not true but I don't care because I love it.
And that, my friends, was all I am good for tonight. A list of four measly comments. Tomorrow is another day, tomorrow is another day.

Sweater: Michael Kors via TJMaxx // Skirt: Thrifted Vintage, hemmed / Tights: Hue // Boots: Vintage Etienne Aigner

I've been trying to write this post for three hours. I can't put my thoughts in order, so here ya go ... consider this me giving up.

  • This is Tionesta Dam. It is one of my favorite places to be in the summer. It normally freezes over in the winter but I couldn't make myself venture out on the ice because I'm kinda a sissy.
  • I got this little vintage skirt at a rummage sale over the summer (the same one that I got these $2 boots at). It was twice as wide and 3x as long as it is now but how stinking great is that print? So many color option!
  • I am swearing off leather boots until I make it back to Texas. While they are arguably more stylish than snow boots, my big toe was numb all day long despite my wool socks.
  • How adorable is baby girl? She held my big, long coat up off the ground so that it didn't lay in the snow. She is pretty great.

Coat: Old Navy // Shirt: Walmart // Shorts: Old Navy // Tights: Gap // Boots: Target // Cowl: Handmade

Like denim on denim, I feel like plaid (especially red plaid for some reason) is just so fitting for being in the middle of a woody wintery wonderland (holy w's). A little cliche, yes, but I like cliches.

I was a little iffy about shorts with tights because, well, it is pretty stinking chilly outside. Surprisingly, I felt just as warm as if I had bundled up in pants (not to mention much, much comfier) so I suppose all these lovely ladies that reside up north know what they're talking about. I would have loved to pair this with my vintage riding boots but I've found that my love for fashion is not quite as great as my love for keeping all my toes intact. While my riding boots are certainly cute, they are not very well insulated at all.

Speaking of boots and being warm, I have to give a big thank you to Terra for picking these up for me from a Target in Pittsburgh. Texas Targets don't get a large selection of winter boots and I definitely needed a pair for vacation and Terra was kind enough to grab these babies for me. I am super happy with them. They're cuter than some winter boots and pretty darn warm so, for $35, I'm a happy camper.

Sweater: Gap // Denim Popover: JCPenny // Jeans: Gap // Boots: Target // Necklace: Jupe

I did something similar to this outfit towards the end of the 30 for 30 challenge. But, for some reason, denim on denim with snow boots just seems so fitting for spending time in the middle of the woods. As does flannel, which I have also been living.

I better get my butt in gear and start taking some photos in the really awesome areas that there are up here. I say that I'm going to every single time but, before I know it, I get carried away with seeing friends and family and outfit shots get pushed back. Fingers crossed for this time.

The sun setting in Missouri on the drive to Pennsylvania.
The first light (in Ohio) after a long night of driving.
Baby girl's Texas snowflakes. This is probably the only kind she'll see in Texas this year.
The view from the top of the sled riding hill.

Grey Sweater: F21 // Purple Sweater: Old Navy // Leggings: Kohl's // Boots: Vintage // Necklace: Gorjana via Shopbop

I've noticed that a lot all of my outfits revolve around leggings and comfy sweaters when I'm up here visiting. I can't help it, they're just so cozy. That, a cup of tea and lots of snow are pretty much all I need to be content for the next week or so.

Dress: Ross // Tights: Hue // Booties: JCPenny // Necklace: Jupe

These are what outfit shots look like when you're rushing to get to a wedding because you thought you had time to order and eat a pizza before the service started. Never the less, I love this dress. The wedding happened to be on December 31st, so this outfit also happened to be my NYE outfit.

Looking back, I wish I had taken a little more time to photograph this beautiful necklace I got at Jupe after my lunch with Terra. It is gold but not TOO gold, just the perfect distressed shade. I love it. I'm sure that I will be wearing it quite I bit so I'll have to get some close ups of it in the near future.
