Lately I've been realizing that I'm much more prone to wearing jeans rather than skirts and dresses. It is something that I've been noticing for the last few months. I definitely prefer pants in the winter and skirts/dresses in the summer (I know, how predicable). Since I've realized this emerging preference, I've made it a point to begin beefing up my denim collection. I've been looking for trendy, fun pieces like colored denim as well as more classic ones like denim trousers and dark boot cut styles. I also did a massive overhaul of my pants drawer and was painfully honest with myself about the things that didn't work for me (even if I wish they did).

I'm really loving colored denim as a way to punch up an otherwise neutral outfit. This is an outfit that I've worn with regular jeans but never photographed because it just seemed a little uninspired to me. But add in a large splash of green and it elevates it to a whole different level. I think these jeans are going to transition perfectly into spring. I can't wait to wear them with a yellow cardigan and sandals when the weather begins to warm up.

Are you a fan of colored pants? If so, are they something that you'd invest in or are they just for fun? For now, I'm on the just for fun side ... my red ones came from Old Navy for $11 and the green ones were a $22 Target buy. I am more likely to try out trendy pieces when I get a good deal on them.
